In partnership withSun Valley Company and Sturtevants Mountain Outfitters, Fresh Tracks serves children, teens, and adults with disabilities who are interested in skiing, snowboarding, or Nordic skiing.
The purpose of Fresh Tracks is to provide individual instruction that increases a participant’s ability to a level where he or she can enjoy snow sports at or near the same level as one’s able-bodied peers. Participants learn physical and communication skills to apply at home and school, and goals are set for each participant to track progress throughout the season.
Last winter, 40 students from the Idaho School for the Deaf & Blind visited to participate in the Fresh Tracks program. Overall, Fresh Tracks served 149 participants in the ‘10-’11 winter season with 12 local children successfully integrating into peer group lessons.
